This is a 4 week course designed to introduce you to the basics of silver jewellery making. The beginners course is great place to start if you have an interest in jewellery making and are looking for a fun way to spend a few evenings, learn some new skills and get creative.

In the first two sessions you will learn how to make a silver band ring, which will teach you how to cut, file, form, anneal, solder and polish, giving you the skills required to start developing your own designs for the second half of the course. All basic materials and tools will be provided, but if you need any specialist materials to complete your designs this will be an additional cost.

Course Outline 

Session 1: Make a silver band ring

You will be introduced to the workshop so that you become familiar with the tools, machines and materials that you will be working with. By the end of this session you will have learnt how to size a ring, cut, file, anneal, solder and form your silver.

Session 2: Finish and polish your ring

During this session you will learn how to finish and polish your ring ready to take home.

Session 3: Design and make a piece of your own

The second half of the course is your chance to use the skills you've learnt so far to design and create a piece of your own.

You will be shown a variety of pieces and techniques to demonstrate a few directions that you may wish to take, and with advice and guidance from your tutor you can start to develop your design ideas.

Session 4: Finish your design

Continue to work on your own design with the aim to complete it by the end of the session.
